Fantastic day Reviewed June 17, 2016 Our guide and driver Tugrul met us as promised when we docked in Kusadasi. We enjoyed his informed insights into Kusadasi, Epehesus and the Virgin Mary's house. Tugrul is the perfect guide, friendly, humorous and most importantly knowledgable on everything we wanted to see. Absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a tour of these sights.

Fabulous Tour Guide Reviewed July 14, 2016 My wife and I toured with Tugrul from Bodrum to Izmir via Ephesus and Pergamon for three magical days in May. Tugrul is a gem. His English is superb and is matched by his profound knowledge of the history of the region, warmth, friendliness and sense of humour. Tugrul is a true student of history from Greek to Roman through to Byzantine times who imparted to us his love of the region with its deep Jewish and Christian roots. We had not appreciated how much there is to see and wish that we had given ourselves more time. We think that Tugrul knows every block of marble by name. Beyond history, Tugrul is an accomplished musician and a lover of local arts and handmade carpets. Importantly, he knows his food, taking us to superb restaurants for lunch such as the one operated by the mother of My Mother's Kitchen cookbook by a Turkish-American woman and another on the coast where Tugrul bought fresh fish from the local fishermen's co-op which he had prepared at a neighbouring restaurant. He never pushed us or even mentioned shopping, which so many tour guides do, but when we mentioned that we were interested in leather goods he knew exactly where to take us. Finally, mention should be made of Tugrul's friend and driver, Alp. Not only was Alp a great driver, but shared some great stories and has an excellent sense of humour. Ask him about his tattoos." We have no hesitation in recommending Tugrul and we hope to return soon. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g297972-d2072025-r382298664-Ephesus_Kusadasi_Guide-Kusadasi_Turkish_Aegean_Coast.html#REVIEWS
Amazing tour with Tugrul! Reviewed June 13, 2016 From the moment Tugrul met our ship in the Kusadasi Cruise Port we were impressed with his professional demeanor and humor. His day-long tour of Ephesus was far beyond our expectations. He was truly passionate about his country and demonstrated a real commitment to preserving and sharing its history and culture. As long-time Christians he helped us understand the culture and customs of ancient times and how they applied to Biblical passages. He shared not only history with us, but much of his personal life in modern Turkey. He was simply amazing! I highly recommend him. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g297972-d2072025-r381766702-Ephesus_Kusadasi_Guide-Kusadasi_Turkish_Aegean_Coast.html#REVIEWS
Fantastic Excursion With Turgul Reviewed June 11, 2016 We were hoping that we would have a sea day on our cruise on the Carnival Vista but we went to Kusadasi, Turkey. I booked a tour with Tugrul Sokmen of Kusadasitours.com. He met us at the ship and spent the entire time explaining everything we saw. I was so happy that we found Tugrul. He took us to Ephesus and gave us a grand tour of the ruins. It was rainy that day and I went ahead to a spot that Tugrul told me to see. I walked along a wood plank area until I got to the area mentioned and then made a right turn. I was in awe! There before me was the Celsus Library. We were toured all over the area with Tugrul pointing out everything that we were seeing. He took us to Bizem Ev Hanimeli for lunch. The food was incredible and it was a true mom and pop restaurant. I tried everything and did not find one dish that I did not like. We were then taken to the museum where Tugrul gave us a walking tour of everything on display and explained everything we saw. It is so mind blowing to see items on display that are over 7000 years old. I could go on but all I need to say is that Tugrul brought Turkey to life for us. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g297972-d2072025-r381107721-Ephesus_Kusadasi_Guide-Kusadasi_Turkish_Aegean_Coast.html#REVIEWS
Touring with Tugrul Reviewed June 9, 2016 I would highly recommend our guide Tugrul, who was a fantastic guide to our small tour group as we toured gorgeous SW Turkey -- Aphrodesias, Pamukkale, Ephesus, Miletus, and Didimus. Tugrul is a very sharp, interesting, and engaging person and a wonderful guide. He was so kind and considerate with our inquisitive group members and always had the answers to many difficult questions. He has a background and education that has prepared him so well for his job. His knowledge of the history of the area is amazing and he shares that knowledge in a fun way. Tugrul is a very safe driver, an obviously appreciated quality, and very sensitive to providing the creature comforts of his clientele. He went beyond the call to provide water, coffee, food and snacks whenever needed and even took us to a cool electronics store when one member of our party wanted a cell phone charger. Thank you Tugrul for a wonderful time. I will always remember singing with you in exactly the right spot in the stadium! My photos turned out beautifully and I am assembling my Apple photo book right now. With hugs and global friendship, Sue https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g297972-d2072025-r380652445-Ephesus_Kusadasi_Guide-Kusadasi_Turkish_Aegean_Coast.html#REVIEWS
Fantastic tour of Ephesus Reviewed June 7, 2016 Tugrul was just a wonderful guide to this fascinating city. He is a real expert in the ruined city, and in its geography, history, geology, archaeology etc and he taught us so much. We felt like had attended a college course on ancient Rome and Ephesus. He is a very personable, likeable and knowledgeable guide and we highly recommend him. |
