Touring with Tugrul Reviewed June 9, 2016 I would highly recommend our guide Tugrul, who was a fantastic guide to our small tour group as we toured gorgeous SW Turkey -- Aphrodesias, Pamukkale, Ephesus, Miletus, and Didimus. Tugrul is a very sharp, interesting, and engaging person and a wonderful guide. He was so kind and considerate with our inquisitive group members and always had the answers to many difficult questions. He has a background and education that has prepared him so well for his job. His knowledge of the history of the area is amazing and he shares that knowledge in a fun way. Tugrul is a very safe driver, an obviously appreciated quality, and very sensitive to providing the creature comforts of his clientele. He went beyond the call to provide water, coffee, food and snacks whenever needed and even took us to a cool electronics store when one member of our party wanted a cell phone charger. Thank you Tugrul for a wonderful time. I will always remember singing with you in exactly the right spot in the stadium! My photos turned out beautifully and I am assembling my Apple photo book right now. With hugs and global friendship, Sue

Best Day of our trip! Reviewed July 24, 2015 Our tour guide, Tugrul, was incredible. He was intelligent, patient, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We went to Ephesus, Mary's house, and the Turkish Rug Cooperative on our cruise's one day stop in Kusadasi. After a day in Athens during which we were rushed, Tugrul didn't rush us at all. The itinerary said to only spend 2-3 hrs at Ephesus; our family of 5 spend 5 hrs there. He did not rush us, but patiently answered all our questions. Tugrul's english is also very good. He was welcoming and open to answering all our questions from history to politics, mythology to archaeology. He then took us to the Turkish rug cooperative which was a lifetime experience. They really mean that there is no pressure to buy. The stop was incredible. First of all we had a cheap, but delicious lunch there. Then they took us through the Rug Cooperative, showing us everything from how they harvest silk to the various types of rugs. This short experience gave me a lifetime appreciation for rugs. We finished the trip to the House of Mary. It is a slight misnomer that it is just a small chapel located near where Mary is believed to live. I still enjoyed the humbling experience though (I am Catholic). This was absolutely the best day of our trip and our family loved Tugrul. I am excited to come back in the near future! |
